How to change location on Opus EHR for Users and Patients

This article is a comprehensive guide on how to change the location for both the EHR user and the patients generated within the EHR

Accessing Location Settings

To access Locations Settings, you will need to open Settings - the gear icon located on the upper right corner of the Opus account website.

A pop-up window will open, and you can navigate to General, and select Locations.

*Please note that the accessibility of the items in the settings, such as Locations will be dependent on the access configuration on your role. You will need to contact your approver to enable this configuration on your role.

Changing or Adding Provider Location

Why Updating Provider Location Matters

1. It affects the Location dropdown that will be visible to your profile:

Since patient profiles are location-bound, providers assigned to caseloads of patients must ensure that they also have access to the Location where their assigned caseload (patient) is listed.

2. For accounts with 2 or more locations, multiple Sidebar Menus are only available once you select a location.

Sidebar Menu Behavior Based on Location

The Sidebar Menus that will only be available when "All locations" is selected are the following:

  • Home
  • Patients
  • Documents
  • Schedule
  • Groups
  • Billing

Troubleshooting Missing Sidebar Menus

Multiple dropdowns will only be available once you select a Location. If you have single location on your account, all sidebar menus will normally be available. The following will be available if you have selected a location:

  • Appointment Request
  • Availability
  • Occupancy
  • Case Load
  • Utilization
  • MARS

The best way to troubleshoot missing menus on the sidebar is to check whether a user has selected a location instead of "All Locations" with the exception of the E-prescribe menu which is account bound and can only be enabled by the Opus Support.

Changing the locations for the patients (clients)

The user can change the locations of the patients with the following steps:

1. On the upper right side, select Settings

2. On all Settings, navigate to the Patients Menu and click "Move Patient"image of All Settings Menu with a red box on "Move Patient"

3. The new tab "Move Patient" menu will open where you can select the patient and location via dropdown. If you have extensive selection of Patients and Locations, both text fields have the search feature where you can type and populate the names.

4. Upon selecting the patient and the new designated location, Click the Move Patient Button.

5. Refresh your browser for the settings to take effect.
