How to Generate a Report
Opus allows you to generate standardized or customized reports in multiple formats (CSV, Excel, PDF). This article walks you through requesting, filtering, and downloading a report.
Steps:
-
Open the Report Request panel
• From any screen, click Report Request in the upper‑right corner.
• In the pop‑up, click Request Report. -
Select a Report Type
• Choose from built‑in reports (e.g., Patients, Census, Billing) or select a custom report added for your organization.
• Need a new custom report? Contact Opus Support. -
Choose the File Format
• Available options: CSV, Excel (XLSX), or PDF.
• Pick the format best suited for how you will use or share the data. -
Apply Filters (optional but recommended)
Each report has its own set of filters. Common examples include:
• Level of Care – isolate patients in Detox, RTC, PHP, IOP, etc.
• Location – single or multiple facility locations.
• Date Range – admission, discharge, or service dates.
• Badges / Tags – segment patients with specific attributes.
• Discharge Reason – focus on treatment completions, AMA, etc.$1 Tip: Applying filters within Opus before you click Generate reduces the size of the file you'll download and speeds up processing. If you prefer to work with the full data set, you can download an unfiltered report and apply Excel's Filter or Sort tools later.
-
Generate the Report
• Click Generate.
• The request is queued; progress appears in the Requested Reports tab. -
Download or Retrieve Later
• When the status shows Ready, click Download to save the file.
• All requested reports remain in the list, so you can return and download them at any time.
Quick Export from List Screens

Many list or table screens (Patients, Appointments, Claims, etc.) include an Export button that opens the Report Request screen with the relevant report pre‑selected.
